Trail description
The path starts from the beach of Melić which is located on the northeast side of the Bay of Bakar. On the path you can see several tuna observation posts which bear witness to a famous past when Bakar was the centre of fishing in the northern Croatian littoral. The most important and over the centuries the most profitable, Adriatic group of standing tuna fishing posts were in fact in the Bay of Bakar. The last active tuna fishing post was named “Bakarac” and it was used until the mid-20th century. The path continues right beside the sea all the way to Kraljevica and the Frankopan castle. On returning to the starting point it crosses over the “Sansovo” hill and passes by a vantage point from where there extends an unforgettable view of the Bay of Bakar.
